Ikebana (Japanese meaning "living flowers") is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. In
contrast to flower arranging in western countries, the Japanese flower arrangement attempts to
create a harmony of linear construction and open spaces.
Western arrangements are generally more abundant in flowers, devoting their attention mainly to
the quantity as well as color of the blossoms. The Ikebana arrangements, on the other hand,
emphasize the line-art elements, such as stems and branches, and might even look a little
"empty" at first. See Ikebana International web site.
Because of the special, delicate way by which flowers and branches are arranged, Ikebana
arrangements are meant to be constructed on site and very difficult to transport in a delivery van.
Therefore we have been developing the arrangements that look like Ikebana yet are deliverable
and generally more abundant in blossoms than authentic Ikebana.
