Delivery FAQ

Q:  Why are florists' delivery charge so expensive?  Why can't you do "free
delivery
" like Chinese take-out or pizza shops?

A:  Chinese take-out or pizza shops can afford to offer "free" delivery because these
shops pay little to nothing for their deliveries.  They do not own the delivery vehicles;
the drivers bring in their own cars.

Florists' deliveries, on the other hand, are done by the vans owned by the florists.
We pay for the insurance, gas, and maintenance; as for Chinese take-out or pizza
shops, it is the drivers who pay for the bulk of those expenses.

Most Chinese take-out or pizza delivery drives do not earn even a minimum wage
from the store.  Their income virtually depends on the tip they receive from the
recipient.  For this reason, they usually do not go for a long-distance delivery.

Florists' delivery drivers earn hourly wages.  We deliver much further than pizza
shops do.  Also,
recipients of flowers, unlike recipients of food, are not the same
persons who ordered the delivered products.  It is
not customary for a receiver of a
gift to pay for the gift delivery.

Q.  Do you offer any discount for delivery?

A.  No, we can't, because delivery charge is the
actual expense we have to pay for
providing this service (driver's wage, gas, insurance, and maintenance).  We do not
make a profit from delivery.

If we were to arbitrarily offer delivery discounts for certain customers, that dollar
amount would have to be "paid for" by other customers who pay a full amount for the
delivery expenses.  We believe it is not fair for these customers.
